      Sony PS-Q3 Record Player

This morning, I across this fascinating little 1980s record player from Sony.

It's called the PS-Q3 and it features a unique clamshell design with no platter for the record to spin on. The unit houses the center and top quarter of the record and the looks of the photos, it can't be more than a 9" square. It has a unique linear tracking arm (moving in a straight line as opposed to pivoting on an axis) and plays both full size and 7" records at 33 and 45 rpm.

The photo above is from another eBay auction for a non-working PS-Q3. If you're interested in picking one up, here's a link to the auction.

Vinyl is Forever - Series Two

Some of you may remember the first edition of Vinyl is Forever garments by Human Empire that we posted about back in December.

Good news. Edition two by Andreas Samuelsson is out and available at Insound. Here's a bit about this edition

The second installment of Vinyl is Forever features the design of renowned Swedish designer and illustrator Andreas Samuelsson. Known for working with cut paper collage mixed with watercolor and computer graphics, his ideas tend to turn into geometric forms, stylistic symbols and handwritten letters. All items are printed on 100% organic garments, custom tailored, custom dyed, and super limited edition.

Prices range from $23 for crew / v-neck tshirts and $35 for a pullover hoodie.

      Check them out here.

Vinyl record laptop skin from LTL Prints

Earlier this week, I stopped into Philadelphia-based Larger Than Life Prints at their offices in Old City. They have an awesome service that allows you to upload, cutout, and print your own images on a really cool restickable fabric with prints ranging in size from laptop skins (12" X 8") up to a full 7' tall.

I created the Analog Apartment vinyl record skin for my laptop (above) with a hole cutout of the center so the glowing light from the Apple logo could peek through.

You can easily make prints of your favorite album covers, oversized records, and more. I'm going to make some additional Analog Apartment prints available over the next week or so. In the meantime, check them out here and if you'd like your own vinyl record skin, drop me a line here.
