      Wikiphonia - The Headphone Wiki

If you love headphones and learning more about the technology behind them, check out Wikiphonia. It's a wiki dedicated solely to headphones (primarily rare and out of production models). Here's a bit about it from the site:

This Wiki contains 371 articles about various types of headphones and headphone related material. You can talk freely about any type of headphones new or old, dynamicisodynamic (aka orthodynamic) or electrostatic.

My intention is to compile as much information about headphones for public use as possible, however I especially want to concentrate on old out of production headphones such as Jecklin Floats, vintage Stax Earspeakers, MB Peerless headphones and other obscure and not so obscure headphones that deserve to be heard.

Fascinating read. Check it out here.

Digging at home with the LP Bin

Few things beat the experience of flipping through rows of records at the record store. At home, the closest thing most people come to it is flipping through their records in milk crates. But what happens when you have lots of records, want to be able to flip through them, and don't want to go the milk crate route? We may have found something for you.

We came across a storage unit called the LP Bin and it looks like a great solution for the home. The 27" wide by 22" deep laminated wood unit consists of a top and bottom shelf. Each shelf can hold 2 rows of records, making it easy to flip through your collection. On their website, they say the shelf can hold up to 560 records.

The LP Bin is available here in black and cherry (shown above) for $250. Additional units will get you a 4% discount on your order.

We've never seen one in person but we would would love to hear from you if you have one of these and can attest to the build quality.

      Vestax Guber CM-02

If you're looking for a compact turntable that's a bit different from the rest of the pack, this one might work for you.

It's the Vestax Guber CM-02 and while this belt-drive turntable is not new to the scene, it will pack a lot of the features that someone new to vinyl will be looking for (USB, built in pre-amp, choice between line out or phono out).

I have yet to see one of these in person but from the photos, it looks like a great design. It features an acrylic platter with 5 bullet-shaped weights to keep it balanced, S-shaped tonearm, and a single control for power / platter speed. Simple, modern, and unique - just how we like it.

It's available here from Amazon for $499.

      New Feature: Filter your records

We just added a great new feature to My Analog Apartment to make it easy to filter and find your records. Here's how it works:

When you log into your account, you'll notice an input box in the bottom center of the interface.

Simply type in this box and your collection will be narrowed down based on each character you enter. This filter box searches everything you have entered about a record including text in the Notes section. It's great if you want to keep track of and easily find albums based on additional information such as genre, label, album size, mood, etc.

Here we typed "sigur" and our collection was filtered down to just Sigur Ros albums. You'll also notice the record count on the bottom right reflects the filter results. To go back to the full view of your collection, simply click the "X" on the right side of the filter box to clear the text.

      We hope you enjoy it.
