Vinyl shelving under $100
Although I've had some less than great experiences with Ikea furniture, this comes as a recommendation from a Twitter follower as a great, low-cost shelving setup for your vinyl records.
The Expedit model shelf features 8 square compartments and comes in 3 colors - birch (shown), black-brown, and white. You can arrange it vertically as shown or, how I would do it, horizontally. The depth is just deep enough to put a Technics 1200 on top. Here are the dimensions:
Width: 31 1/8 "
Depth: 15 3/8 "
Height: 58 5/8 "
Twitter follower @kumar303 has 3 of them and says each holds approximately 525 LPs.
Best of all - it's only $89!
Overall, it looks like a great solution. You can order it online or check to see if your local Ikea carries it here.
Thank you @kumar303 for pointing this one out!

The thick outer frames make this a very sturdy rig, which is the most important thing. I have broken poorly made shelves before. Records are heavy! There is also a bigger version if you have the wall space: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40047675 . Another friend of mine has his vinyl collection in that one; it works just as well.
I have 2 in black - they don't hold records yet - they are presently holding stacks of books two deep... someday... someday.
These are the only way to fly ! The other sizes are a 4x4 and a 5x5 . . personally I have a 4x4 with a 2x4 on top both in Blackish Brown. There is no reason to search futher if you are on a budget.
