as well, the microphones - mt. eerie.
The Whitest Boy Alive "Dreams" was indeed pressed on vinyl - limited to 1000 copies and appears to be sold out everywhere...
I wish I could find The Dear Hunter's stuff but it's never been pressed. Even talked face-to-face with Casey, the lead singer, about it, but the record label doesn't want to do it. Sad. Hopefully someday.
Good luck with Your Favourite Weapon to whoever wanted it. I'm looking for it myself. Of course you won't find it for under $150 right now. I talked to Jesse Lacey at a concert and he mentioned repressing both older albums and Devil and God at the same time with some cohesive artwork between all three of them.
To whoever wanted ( ) and Agaetis byrjun by Sigur Ros, did you know there is the Sigur Ros vinyl set called In a Frozen Sea that features
( ), Takk, and Agaetis byrjun? It's expensive at like $180 and it's limited to 5000... but it's beautiful and worth it.
And Bon Iver's For Emma Forever Ago is definitely still in print and should be picked up right now.
I'm not positive, but I think this list might double as the whitest collection of sound recordings... ever. I'm just saying. The only things missing is The Alan Parson's Project and Combichrist. Yeesh.
That's funny. Any suggestions? I have a list of soul albums I'm looking for and that might round out the list...
I don't think the list was meant to be a considered, well-rounded list... it was a twitter survey left to those who felt like responding. The "whiteness" of the list is inconsequential.
Wait a sec...Fred has changed my mind, negate my previous comment. I now see that Parliament, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Buena Vista Social Club, etc, etc are pretty pasty white ...
Everybody who contributed should have thought deeply about how every other person was going to contribute before giving that gut answer that they just happen to have at the moment. Shame on everyone. Shame.
Jim. Gut answers are fine. I'm just saying this list is indicative of this site's readership and their 180-gram tastes.
And so we're clear Parliament, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Buena Vista Social Club are actually pretty white, as defined by their listenership. (Is that a word?) Buena Vista Social Club, as recorded, is nothing more than rich Ry Cooder's little multi-culti project of color. He ruined it by sitting in with them most of the time. They've been making great music for decades without your help Ry. Thanks for nothing more than getting them on the shelves at Starbucks. Sigh.
Yes, shame on everyone indeed for creating a college radio playlist. Sigur Ros? Flaming Lips? Hell, throw G.W.A.R. up there. It's just a blog. Follow your bliss.
How exactly does making generalizations about readership / listenership fit in here? These were all compiled from individuals that follow @analogapartment on Twitter that responded "I wish I had X on vinyl right now". One would expect it to be somewhat mainstream, there were no parameters.
I really wish I had Circle Takes The Square's "As The Roots Undo". Any ideas?
I'm also hunting for "If They Move... Kill Them" from Fairweather... the original clear vinyl.
"Parliament, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Buena Vista Social Club are actually pretty white, as defined by their listenership."
i'm pretty sure you pulled that out of nowhere.
an unrelated point: the majority of twitterers are white .. oh wait, there is no way that isn't true.
shocking the list would reflect this.
